Byland Engineering is a consulting geotechnical engineering practise based in York.
We design structures and foundations in the ground for large civil engineering projects and therefore require to plot large format construction drawings day in day out.
In December 2011 we decided that enough was enough with our old faithful HP DesignJet 750C plotter, whilst it was still working well, it seemed to take an age to plot off drawings and at times the line definition and print quality was poor.
For a replacement we contacted our favoured HP specialist DesignJet Solutions Limited who provided the whole service including supply of a HP DesignJet T790, delivery, installation and removal of our old plotter.
They even updated our HP LaserJet 4200 while they were here!!
The HP T790 is a great plotter. We often work on tight timescales so when drawings arrive we need to plot them as soon as possible.
Our previous plotter used to take up to 5 minutes to plot one A1 drawing. Now with the T790 A1 prints are ready in 30 seconds, barely enough time to get across the office. Despite the obvious advantages with the plot speed, I think the thing that amazes us the most is the economy of the ink. We have had the T790 for 3 months now and are only down to 70% black ink. With our old plotter we were continually replacing cartridges at significant hassle and cost.
DesignJet Solutions were able to provide a completely seamless transition form our old plotter to the new DesignJet T790. We have been using them for a number of years now and their DesignJet repair and plotter repair service is outstanding.
